About Prague

Prague was one of the most beautiful European cities since the Middle Ages and has had many nicknames as “ City of 100 towers”, “ Heart of the Europe”, “ Golden Prague”.  It was a crossroad, where many merchant, artists and scientists met. First mentions about initial inhabitants of Vltava valley goes to very deep history, when Celtic tribe come in 500 BC. First Slavonic tribe had arrived to Bohemia in about 500 AD. Prince Borivoj established the Prague Castle; in 10thcentury fortress Vysehrad was built on the rock upon the Right Bank of the river Vltava. Both fortresses have become very important places of Czech rulers. Prince Wenceslas, which was one of them, was in 935 murdered, later was canonised and then become Bohemian saint patron.

Prague visited many prominent personalities for centuries. Some of them were W.A.Mozart, L. van Beethoven, P.I. Čajkovskij, O.Kokoschka, the British Queen Elisabeth II, Pope John Paul II and many others. Writers Jan Neruda, Jaroslav Hašek Jaroslav, Seifert Franz Kafka got inspired by Prague, as their native town, mentioned it in their work.

Prague is a complex of historical monuments and shows all artistic styles. The historical centre of Prague is situated on both banks of the river Vltava.   Historical centre consists from the 6 quarters, which once were independent cities and were put together in 18th century. Those are Old Town, New Town, Little Quarter, Hradcany and Vysehrad. There are cumulated many museums, galleries, and historical buildings. VIP-visitors, Dates, History

The foundation and development of Carlsbad has always been inseparably connected with the soothing curative effect of its warm mineral springs. They marked the history, architecture, economy and the whole spirit of the city. The springs have fascinated people and have stimulated them since the oldest times. A story of the fantasy world is the popular story according to which Carlsbad springs were discovered by Charles IV, the Czech king and Roman Emperor, at a deer hunting in the middle of the 14th century. The foundation of the spa city at the confluence of the Ohře and Teplá Rivers in the reign of Charles IV is sure not to be such an accidental and romantic act as said in the old story, but almost a regular development result for a long-known place with a curative tradition.

About Wiena

Wien iFounded around 500 BC, Vienna was originally a Celtic settlement. In 15 BC, Vienna became a Roman frontier city ("Vindobona") guarding the Roman Empire against Germanic tribes to the north.

During the Middle Ages, Vienna was home of the Babenberg Dynasty and in 1440 became residence city of the Habsburg dynasties from where Vienna eventually grew to become the capital of the Holy Roman Empire and a cultural centre for arts and science, music and fine cuisine. The Ottoman invasions of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries were stopped twice just outside Vienna (see Siege of Vienna, 1529 and Battle of Vienna, 1683).

In 1805, Vienna became capital of the Austrian Empire — and later the Austro-Hungarian Empire — and played a major role in European and World politics, including hosting the 1815 Congress of Vienna. Adolf Hitler lived in Vienna from 1907 until 1913. The Academy Of Fine Arts of the city rejected him as a student. When Hitler became broke and homeless he stayed at homeless shelters like the one on the Meldemann Strasse. In 1918, after World War I, Vienna became capital of the First Austrian Republic. In 1938 Hitler spoke to the Austrian people from the balcony of the Neue Burg, a part of the Hofburg at the Heldenplatz. Between 1938 (Anschluß) and the end of the Second World War, Vienna lost its status as a capital to Berlin.

In 1945, the Vienna Offensive was successfully launched by the Soviets against the Germans holding Vienna. The city was besieged for about two weeks before it fell to the Soviets. After 1945, Vienna was again the capital of Austria. It was initially divided into four zones by the 4 Powers and was governed by the Allied Commission for Austria. Vienna became a hot-bed for international espionage between the Western and Eastern blocs.
